•Thursday, November 2, 2006
- 6:00PM-9:00PM: REQUIRED check-in. Players who do not check-in by 9:00 may be excluded from tournament draw unless the directors are informed ahead of time.
•Friday, November 3, 2006—7 Rounds
- 10:00AM-1:00PM: 3 rounds
- 2:00PM-6:00PM: 4 rounds
•Saturday, November 4, 2006—7 Rounds
- 9:00AM-12:00PM: 3 rounds
- After 25 years of togetherness, Scrabble players Jason Sommer and Sherry Schaff will be wed by fellow Scrabble player the Reverend Mike Baron during the Grand Canyon tournament. All are invited to attend the ceremony at 1:30PM at the West Rim Worship Site. A reception at the Maswik South Lodge will follow, and all players are invited to toast the newlyweds!

Entry Fees & Prizes
Entry Fees
- $90 for players rated 1600 and above
- $80 for players rated 1200 - 1599
- $70 for players rated 1199 and below
This tournament includes a "Friends of the Director" contest
Entry deadline is October 30, 2006. No entries will be accepted at the door. All players (except first-time competitors) must be current members of the National Scrabble Association and provide card or label to verify.
Cancellation Policy: NO REFUNDS will be given to cancellations after 6:00PM MST on November 1, 2006. No refund without notification. At director's discretion, full or partial credit may be applied to a future event. All cancelled entries are subject to a $10 cancellation fee.
Prizes
Guaranteed 80% prize fund. "Guaranteed $1,000" for 1st Place in Division 1.
Entries postmarked by August 15, 2006, will qualify for an Early Entry Prize drawing
Friends of the Director Contest: Players who make mistakes on their tournament tally slips will be assessed a penalty of $1.00 per incident. Players who do not make any mistakes on their tournament tally slips will be eligible to win the money collected.
Format
Three divisions:
- 1600 and above
- 1200-1599
- 1199 and below
Divisions will be based on the October 2006, NSA ratings or more recent cross tables. Players may use their "Peak 2006" rating to qualify for a higher division. 16 rounds Fontes Swiss Pairing; 1 round King of the Hill.
Lodging
Lodging is available at any of the Grand Canyon Lodges and can be booked by mailing or faxing a lodging request form (see below). Lodging MUST be confirmed by October 3, 2006. Click here for information about lodging and amenities.
Important Note Regarding Lodging
September 25, 2006—All rooms at Maswik South have been sold out for the upcoming GCXXV tournament. We have been advised that 6 rooms are still available at Maswik North. Additional rooms are available at Thunderbird Lodge and El Tovar, and Historic Cabins are also available. PLEASE do not delay in making your reservations. Unsold rooms in our group will be open to the general public 30 days before the tournament.

- Bright Angel Cabins (1 queen bed) - $89 + tax
- Maswick North (2 queen beds) - $124 + tax
- Thunderbird Lodge (2 queen beds) - $136 + tax
- El Tovar (1 queen bed) - $154 + tax
- El Tovar (2 queen beds) - $194 + tax

If you wish to spend extra time at any of the Grand Canyon lodges either before or after the tournament, you will need to book those rooms separately through Central Reservations: 1-888-297-2757. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK YOUR SCRABBLE ROOMS WITH THIS NUMBER.
