Session Notes - June 17, 2012 Session

This session marked the forty-first week of NASPA Club #800 (Northwest Scrabble Club)'s 2011-2012 season!

The tournament rules divisions were joined by 3 players who played 18 games in which we scored 7,128 points for a 396.0000 point-per-game average. Of the 31 recorded bingos we played, two were phoneys that went unchallenged.

Lewis Saul took top honors this week with a 4-3 -28 pt performance.

There were no players in Division B this week.

There were 3 players in division A and no players in division B.

The first was the Starts Or Ends With "V" Contest for the highest scoring play of a main word that starts or ends with the letter "V". In Division A, Ed Saunders took a 30 pt bite with VIPER, Lewis Saul stopped at a 36 pt scenic overlook with VIEWY, but Travis Carlson VOMITED for 40 pts and the $2.25 payoff.

The second was the Monsoon Contest for the highest scoring play of a main word that pertains to weather in some manner. In Division A, Lewis Saul had the only entry with ARIDEST for 75 pts and the $2.25 prize.

The Progressive Jackpots went unclaimed this week and $0.56 will be added to each next session. We have paid out $446.71 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2011-2012 season.

The next regular session (June 24, 2012) shall feature the following contests:
•Starts Or Ends With "W" Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a main word that starts or ends with the letter "W" (e.g. WRYNECK, LOBBYGOW, WAESUCKS, FITCHEW, WITLOOF, OLDSQUAW, WAUCHTED, SHADBLOW, WOLFRAM, UNHALLOW, WELKINS, CRENSHAW, WAHCONDA, MISTBOW, etc.)
• Gotta Dance! Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a main word that is, or incoporates somewhere within it, the name of a dance. (e.g. SARABAND, MAXIXES, TANGOed, JIGsawn, FOXTROTS, GAVOTte, LINDIES, cREELed, unTWIST, RHUMBAS, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $0.56 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $1.12 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Historic Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $1.87 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $1.12 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
