Session Notes - October 2, 2011 Session
This session marked the eighth week of NASPA Club #800 (Northwest Scrabble Club)'s 2011-2012 season!
The tournament rules division was joined by 5 players who played 50 games in which we scored 20,255 points for a 405.1 point-per-game average. Of the 85 recorded bingos we played, 2 were phoneys that went unchallenged.
Travis Carlson claims top honors this week with a 6-1 +551 pt performance, a 434 ppg avg and 15 bingos.
Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured two regular contests this week.
This week's regular contests were from the club archives.
If you have contest ideas or perhaps a favorite contest from the past, let
me know, we'll try to work it into the mix.
The first was the "GO" For The Gold Contest for the highest scoring play of a main word that contains the letter couplet "GO", in that order, somewhere within it. Naurlene Canterman decided to go with GO for 11 pts, Ed Saunders danced in with GOGO for 12, but Richard Spence was waiting in the wings with 76 pts for EPIGONES to claim the $3.75 prize.
The second was The Game Is The Name Contest for the highest scoring play of a main word that is the name, either first or second name, of a person. Naurlene Canterman went to St Louis and met LOUIE for 12 pts, Richard Spence dribbled in for 72 pts with (Brian) CARDINAL (Brian is a pro basketball player), but Ed Saunders crossed the river to the big money. . . .well, $3.75 anyway, with FERRYMAN for 81 (no particularly famous members of the FERRYMAN clan, but there is, indeed, a FERRYMAN clan).
Richard Spence laid claim to the club season's new high play and the $6.34 payout from the Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot, playing TREADLES for 140 pts.
The other Progressive Jackpots went unclaimed this week and $0.93 will
be added to each next session. We have paid out $103.32 in prizes this season.

Next session's contests are from the cluttered mind of Ed Saunders. Thanks,
Ed!
If you have a contest idea or perhaps a favorite contest from the past,
let me know, we'll try to work it into the mix.
