Session Notes - May 30, 2010 Session
This session marked the forty-second week of NASPA Club #800 (Northwest Scrabble Club)'s 2009-2010 season!
The goodies table featured some yummy blackberries brought in by Sarah
Jacobson along with the usual selection of chips, crackers, salsa, newtons,
and cheese.
Natalie McGee continued her learning process with some recreational games
with Ed Saunders and the Computer Scrabble Game.
The tournament rules division was joined by 8
players who played 62 games in which we scored 22,781 points for a 367.4355
point-per-game average. Of the 53 recorded bingos we played, 2 were phonies
that went unchallenged.
Richard Spence claimed this week's top honors with a 5-2 record and 408.4 pts per game.
Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured two regular contests this week.
This session's (May 30th) contests were once again from the mind of Mickey
Matz. Thank you, Mickey!
If you have contest ideas or perhaps a favorite contest from the past, let
me know, we'll try to work it into the mix.
The first was the Lowest Scoring Bingo Contest for the lowest scoring play of a bingo. Lewis Saul floated out CARLINES for 64 pts, Bob Yarmchuk tried GELATION for 61, Richard Spence came out with RESINING for 59, but Janis Clem's AROUSERS (58 pts) claimed the $6.00 prize.
The second was the Highest Scoring Phony Contest for the highest scoring play of a phony word. Lewis Saul scored 85 pts with a plausible play of resworn* but Bob Yarmchuk easily wins the creativity contest and the $6.00 prize with his 86 pt play of braxiest*.
Janis Clem and Richard Spence both claimed a share of the 9+Bingo Progressive Jackpot. Janis spotted an open "IN" couplet and fit her AEGILRT rack around it to score 83 pts with RETAILING ($7.38) while Richard sat with a rack of ACEINRS and played INCREASES to the "ES" for 70 pts and a $7.37 share of the $14.75 prize.
None of the other Progressive Jackpots were claimed this week and $1.50 shall be added to each next session. We have paid out $482.41 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2009-2010 season.
The next session's (June 6th) contests were submitted by the team of Sarah
Jacobson and Janis Clem.

me know, we'll try to work it into the mix.
