Session Notes - September 27, 2009 Session
This session marked the eighth week of NASPA Club #800 (Northwest Scrabble Club)'s 2009-2010 season!
The goodies table featured the usual selection of chips and some crackers
this week.
The tournament rules division was joined by 4 players who played 22 games
in which we scored 7,810 points for a 355.00 point-per-game average. Of
the 27 recorded bingos we played, none was a phony that went unchallenged.
Ed Saunders took top honors this week with a perfect 7-0 +831 record, a 433 per game average and a 502 pt game.
Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured two regular contests this week.
The first was the "Q" Contest awarded to the player who turned in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "Q" somewhere within it. Ed Saunders made 32 pts with his play of QUA, Bob Knouse matched that total with QAT, but Carol Knouse's QUARE for 48 pts snared the $3.00 prize.
The second was the Location, Location, Location Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a location of some kind. Ed Saunders went waaaaaay back in time to the ol' college QUAD for 28 pts, Bob Knouse took a shorter trip back to his JOB for 30, Carol Knouse went down to the village SQUARE for 44, but Karen Lundeen was in the ZONE for 46 pts and the $3.00 prize.
Ed Saunders once again showed his penchant for the weird word, scoring 101 pts with his play of SACBUTS to rake in the $1.50 in the 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot.
Ed's $1.50 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.
No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and $0.75 shall be added to each of them. We have paid out $66.06 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2009-2010 season.
