Session Notes - June 27, 2010 Session

This session marked the forty-sixth week of NASPA Club #800 (Northwest Scrabble Club)'s 2009-2010 season!

The goodies table featured the usual selection of chips, crackers, salsa, and cheese.

The tournament rules division was joined by 5 players who played 54 games in which we scored 18,977 points for a 351.4259 point-per-game average. Of the 48 recorded bingos we played, one was a phoney that went unchallenged.

Richard Spence claimed this week's top honors with a 6-0 record + 361 spread.

Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week.

This session's (June 20th) contests were submitted by Ed Saunders. Thank you, Ed!
If you have contest ideas or perhaps a favorite contest from the past, let me know, we'll try to work it into the mix.

The first was The Zombie Jamboree Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of a fictional, mythical, or legendary creature. Janis Clem rode her flying carpet in search of the 19 pt JIN, but Lewis Saul spoiled her fun by calling in his 69 pt GRINCHES and taking home the $3.75 prize.

The second was the There's A Meetin' Here Tonight Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of a method or type of meeting. Richard Spence played LEAGUES for 66, Sarah Jacobson mailed in MAILers for 71, Lewis Saul didn't sit on the board of review but he did get 77 pts for andeSITe, Janis Clem was just JOSHING but still won the $3.75 prize with her 92 pt play.

None of the Progressive Jackpots were claimed this week and $0.93 shall be added to each next session. We have paid out $519.32 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2009-2010 season.

The next session's (June 27th) contests come again from the mind of Ed Saunders. Thanks, Ed!
