Session Notes - June 20, 2010 Session

This session marked the forty-fifth week of NASPA Club #800 (Northwest Scrabble Club)'s 2009-2010 season!

The goodies table featured the usual selection of chips, crackers, salsa, and cheese.

The tournament rules division was joined by 3 players who played 24 games in which we scored 9,116 points for a 379.8333 point-per-game average. Of the 29 recorded bingos we played, none were phonies that went unchallenged.

Ed Saunders claimed this week's top honors with a 4-2 record.

Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week.

This session's (June 20th) contests were submitted by Travis Carlson. Thank you, Travis!
If you have contest ideas or perhaps a favorite contest from the past, let me know, we'll try to work it into the mix.

The first was The Contest Of Redundancy Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the most repeats of a single letter. Lewis Saul scored 73 pts with NAIVETE (2 "E"s), Janis Clem score 74 with SEASONER (2 "E"s, 2 "S"s), But Ed Saunders added the third "E" and scored 74 with GREENIER and 94 with EXCRETED to claim the $2.25 prize.

The second was The Biggest Loser Contest for the highest scoring play from a game that he or she ended up losing. Janis Clem was YAUPING about losing a game with an 83 pt play, Lewis Saul needed some home run hitters when all he had were BUNTERS (87 pts), and even though Ed Saunders fortified his game with a 98 pt play of ZARIBAS he still lost the game but won the $2.25 prize.

None of the Progressive Jackpots were claimed this week and $0.56 shall be added to each next session. We have paid out $511.82 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2009-2010 season.

The next session's (June 27th) contests came from the tired old mind of Ed Saunders. Thanks, Ed!
