Session Notes - May 16, 2010 Session
This session marked the fortieth week of NASPA Club #800 (Northwest Scrabble Club)'s 2009-2010 season!
The goodies table featured the usual selection of chips, crackers, salsa,
newtons, and cheese.
The tournament rules division was joined by 5
players who played 40 games in which we scored 14,292 points for a 357.3000
point-per-game average. Of the 24 recorded bingos we played, 1 was a phony
that went unchallenged.
Ed Saunders claimed this week's top honors with a 3-0 record, 7 bingos and a 468.33 pt per game average. Lewis Saul also went 3-0 today.
Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured two regular contests this week.
This session's (May 16th) contests were submitted by the renowned writing
tandem of Janis Clem and Sarah
Jacobson. Thanks to both.
If you have contest ideas or perhaps a favorite contest from the past, let
me know, we'll try to work it into the mix.
The first was the Girl's Names Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, a recognizable Girl's Name. Lewis Saul had his eye on IRIS for 22, Janis Clem tried BETH for 24, Ed Saunders said umBO for 28, but Sarah Jacobson got 54 pts and the $3.75 prize with JOin.
The second was the Gettin' There Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of a recognizable form or method of transportation. Lewis Saul bet on JET for 40 pts, but Ed Saunders' JETon scored 43 and won the $3.75 prize.
None of the Progressive Jackpots were claimed this week and $0.93 shall be added to each next session. We have paid out $445.16 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2009-2010 season.
The next session's (May 23rd) contests are from the mind of Mickey
Matz (so they could be "just a bit different maybe". .
. .) Thanks, Mickey !
