Session Notes - January 10, 2010 Session
This session marked the twenty-third week of NASPA Club #800 (Northwest Scrabble Club)'s 2009-2010 season!
The goodies table featured watermelon from Janis Clem, chips and salsa
from Karen Lundeen and the usual selection of chips, newtons, crackers,
and cheese this week.
The tournament rules division was joined by 7
players who played 50 games in which we scored 17, 898 points for a 357.96
point-per-game average. Of the 47 recorded bingos we played, three were
phonies that went unchallenged.
Richard Spence took top honors this week with a 5-1 record, 15 bingos, and a 457 pts per game average.
Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured two regular contests this week.
The first was the Double "AA" Contest for the highest scoring play which includes the two-letter word "AA" as a part of it. Bob Knouse took it straight to the basics scoring 8 pts for his play of AA/BA/LA, Carol Knouse got her quota of 44 pts by hooking her play of QUOTA to an existing "A" on the board forming AA, but Richard Spence toasted his luck with a 69 pt play of SLAINTE which also happened to hook an existing "A" to form AA. Richard wins the $5.25 prize.
The second was the Who'e In Charge Here? Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or contains somewhere within it, the name of a person, figure, or position of authority. Carol Knousetold it to the JUDGE for 28 pts, Richard Spence scored 78 pts with his play of PRINCES, but Janis Clem went with the PRINCESS instead and her 82 pt result wins the $5.25 prize.
None of the Progressive Jackpots were claimed this week and $1.31 shall be added to each next session. We have paid out $268.95 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2009-2010 season.

within it (e.g. UNGUENT, MUNTJAKS, YOUNKER, SEAMOUNT, NUNATAKS, AVIFAUNA,
