Session Notes - June 6, 2010 Session

This session marked the forty-third week of NASPA Club #800 (Northwest Scrabble Club)'s 2009-2010 season!

The goodies table featured some frozen fruit bars brought in by Sarah Jacobson along with the usual selection of chips, crackers, salsa, newtons, and cheese.

The tournament rules division was joined by 5 players who played 38 games in which we scored 13,718 points for a 361.0000 point-per-game average. Of the 38 recorded bingos we played, 1 was a phony that went unchallenged.

Bob Yarmchuk claimed this week's top honors with a 6-0 record and 429.33 pts per game.

Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week.

This session's (June 6th) contests were submitted by the team of Janis Clem and Sarah Jacobson. Thank you, Ladies!
If you have contest ideas or perhaps a favorite contest from the past, let me know, we'll try to work it into the mix.

The first was the Where To? Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of a recognizable destination. Janis Clem and Sarah Jacobson both were headed to the college QUADS (Janis for 36 pts and Sarah for 48), Richard Spence was looking for the ENTRANCE 64, but Ed Saunders was due ONSTAGE 81 pts to accept his $3.75 prize.

The second was The Leg Bone's Connected To The . . . . Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of a body part. Richard Spence scored 7 pts with LUNGer, Janis Clem and Sarah Jacobson flexed their muscles - 36 and 48 pt QUADS in this case -, but Ed Saunders put his back into it and played the 66 pt epiLATe (a LAT is a muscle of the back) to claim the $3.75 prize.

Ed Saunders managed to eke out 100 pts even with his play of HANSOMS to claim the $4.67 prize in the 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot.

None of the other Progressive Jackpots were claimed this week and $0.93 shall be added to each next session. We have paid out $494.58 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2009-2010 season.

The next session's (June 13th) contests were once again submitted by the team of Sarah Jacobson and Janis Clem.
