Session Notes - November 1, 2009 Session

This session marked the thirteenth week of NASPA Club #800 (Northwest Scrabble Club)'s 2009-2010 season!

The goodies table featured the usual selection of chips, newtons, crackers, cheese and some salsa this week.

The tournament rules division was joined by 4 players who played 16 games in which we scored 5,994 points for a 374.6250 point-per-game average. Of the 20 recorded bingos we played, one was a phony that went unchallenged.

Ed Saunders took top honors this week with a 4-0 +356 record.

Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week.

The first was the Scary, Scary night Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that pertains, or contains a word that pertains within it, to Halloween in some direct manner. Bob Knouse led off with GORE for 14 pts, Janis Clem filled her SACK with 32 pts, but Ed Saunders wins it with BESLIME for 78 pts and the $3.00 prize.

The second was the Electricity Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains either or both of the letter couplets "AC" and "DC", in any order, somewhere within it. Carol Knouse focused in on FOCAL for 27 pts, Janis Clem was still concentrating on her SACK of Halloween goodies for 32, but Ed Saunders was seen crawling to the finish line with CATENAS and CRAWLING (both worth 74 pts) to snag the $3.00 prize.

Ed's $6.00 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and $0.75 shall be added to each of them. We have paid out $93.06 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2009-2010 season.
