Session Notes - December 28, 2008 Session

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYBODY!!!!!

This session marked the twenty-first week of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2008-2009 season!

We were treated once again to the company of Sharon Flicker from North Carolina. Hopefully we'll see her again before her return to NC in early January.

The goodies table today featured the usual selection of chips, newtons, and chocolate plus cookies from Sarah Jacobson, raspberries and blackberries donated by Sharon Flicker, and nuts from Joni Perry and Monique Kornell. Thanks to all who provided snacks for the group.

The tournament rules division was joined by 4 players who played 22 games in which we scored 8,192 points for a 372.36 point-per-game average. Of the 22 recorded bingos we played, two were phoneys that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week.

The first was the New Year's Contest awarded to the player who turned in the highest scoring play of a word that begins with either of the letters "N" and "Y". Ed Saunders managed a 63 pt play of NATURED, but Janis Clem pulled 71 pts from her play of NATIVES to pick up the $3.00 prize.

The second was the Low Win Contest for the lowest winning score of the session. Ed Saunders came out of a tight game with Sharon Flicker to score a 348 - 296 victory to claim the $3.00 prize in this contest.

Ed Saunders laid claim to the 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot this week, scoring 118 points with his play of DOZIEST to take home the $0.75 payoff.

Ed's $3.75 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. We have paid out $253.45 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (January 4, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
• It's About Time Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or contains the name of somewhere within it, some unit or measure of time (e.g. YEARlies, MINUTES, SECONDly, simolEON, parSECs, PERIODic, washDAY, JIFFIES, etAGEres, YAHRZEIT, etc.)
• High Loss Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest losing score for this session.
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $15.13 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $1.50 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $2.62 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
