Session Notes - January 25, 2009 Session

This session marked the twenty-fifth week of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2008-2009 season!

The goodies table today featured the usual selection of chips and nuts, plus some cups of trail mix prepared by Janis Clem and left over from Teeny Tiny Four. Thanks to all who provided snacks for the group.

The tournament rules division was joined by 3 players who played 10 games in which we scored 3,716 points for a 371.6 point-per-game average. Of the 10 recorded bingos we played, one was a phoney that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week.

The first was the New Beginning Contest awarded to the player who turned in the highest scoring play of a word that pertains in some direct way to beginnings. There were no entries this week, so the $2.25 prize will roll over into the next session.

The second was the Who's In Charge Here? Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a leader or government official of some kind. Ed Saunders had the only entry in this contest, scoring 48 pts with QUEEN on his opening play of the session. Ed earns $2.25 for his political acumen.

Ed's $2.25 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. We have paid out $282.69 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (February 1, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
• A New Beginning Contest - In honor of the Inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States, $2.25 plus a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that pertains in some direct way to beginnings (e.g. DAWNING, FRESHLY, ABORNING, KICKOFF, ARRIVAL, STARTUP, INITIAL, etc.)
• Call The "MP"s!!! Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains both of the letters "M" and "P" in any order somewhere within it. (e.g. BENEMPT, PALMYRA, PALOMINO, MYOPIAS, LIMPETS, EPONYMY, PEMPHIX, etc.).
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $18.68 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $0.56 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $5.05 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $6.17 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
