Session Notes - November 23 2008 Session

This session marked the sixteenth week of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2008-2009 season!

The goodies table today featured the usual selection of chips, newtons, and a spicy bean dip from Sarah Jacobson. Thanks to all who provided snacks for the group.

The tournament rules division was joined by 7 players who played 38 games in which we scored
14,194 points for a 373.5 point-per-game average. Of the 37 recorded bingos we played, one
was a phoney that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week.

The first was the "MB" Contest awarded to the player who turned in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "M" and "B" somewhere within it. Michael Rhodes scored 22 pts with his play of WOMB, but Ed Saunders wins the $5.25 prize with BLOOMED for 79 pts.

The second was the Name Game Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is a proper name , or incorporates a proper name somewhere within it. Janis Clem tried PEG for 17 pts, Carol Knouse Played FLOret for 19, Karen Lundeen scored 24 with FAY, Bob Knouse floated FLOater for 78, Sarah Jacobson stepped to the head of the line with fRONted for 80, but Ed Saunders and Michael Rhodes split the $5.25 with GARVEYs (Steve Garvey played first base for the Los Angeles Dodgers) and agenTED respectively for 84 pts each.

Ed Saunders hit the 100+ Point Play Progressive Jackpot for the third consecutive week, racking up 112 pts for MOSQUES. Ed picked up $1.31 for his efforts.

Ed's $9.16 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $1.31 added to it. We have paid out $181.95 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (November 30, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• "Z" Is For "ZARZUELA" Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "Z" anywhere within it. (e.g. ZARZUELA, KYANIZED, RENDZINA, ZASTRUGI, DEIONIZE, AZIMUTH, ADZUKIS, TZIMMES, etc.)
•Let It Flow Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that pertains in some way to liquids or beverages (e.g. SEAWATER, FLUXION, BUNGHOLE, MALMSEY, AKVAVIT, SQUIFFY, OLOROSO, CANALED, SMOOTHIE, RATAFIA, JEROBOAM, GROGSHOP, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $10.08 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $11.94 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $8.03 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
