Session Notes - February 22, 2009 Session
This session marked the twenty-eighth week of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s
2008-2009 season!
The goodies table today featured the usual selection of chips. Thanks to
all who provided snacks for the group.
The tournament rules division was joined by 4 players who played 22 games
in which we scored 8,269 points for a 375.86 point-per-game average. Of
the 27 recorded bingos we played, only one was a phony that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:
- High Game - 528 points by Ed Saunders
- Low Win - 328 points by Ed Saunders
- High Loss - 409 points by Ed Saunders (Opponent at 417)
- Bingo King - Richard Spence for averaging 1.5000 bingos per game

We featured two regular contests this week.
The first was the Happy, Happy Birthday Contest awarded to the player who turned in the highest scoring play of a word that begins with either of the letters "E" or "S" ( in honor of Ed Saunders birthday on Feb 21st.) Ed Saunders started off the action with a 76 pt play of STEARIC, Karen Lundeen called for ENCORES of the birthday celebration (80 pts), buT Richard Spence rode his 81 pt play of SHEETED to the $3.00 prize.
The second was the Going To The "LOO" Contest for the highest
scoring play of a word that contains all of the letters "L", "O"<
and another "O", in any order, somewhere within it. Ed tried to
pull the wool over everyone's eyes with a 17 pt play of WOOL,
but Richard Spence raised his hand and made a 28 pt play of LOOF
to palm another $3.00 prize.
Ed Saunders cracked the 100 pt barrier again this week with his 102 pt play of WHORTLES to pull the tidy sum of $0.75 out of the 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot. Ed's windfall will be donated back to the club kitty.
No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. We have paid out $307.43 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.
The next session (March 1, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
• Happy, Happy Birthday!! Contest - Karen Lundeen
celebrated her mmmpppptttthhhh birthday on Friday, February 27th. In honor
of this occasion, a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player
who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that begins with either
of the letters "K" or "L" (e.g. KRUMKAKE, LORGNON, KITTIWAKE,
LAMEDHS, KYANIZE, LYNCEAN, KERYGMA, LARRUPER, etc.)
• A Colorful Contest - A quarter of dues collected
shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of
a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within
it, a color, dye, or pigment of some sort (e.g. BLUEtick, antiRED, GREENier,
ALIZARIN, CROCEIN, MAGENTA, TURKOIS, VERMEIL, INDIGOID, XANTHIN, COPPERY,
PINKeye, etc.).
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $21.11
plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who
scores a Triple-Triple
play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth
of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more
points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $7.48 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores
565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $8.60 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays
a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
