Session Notes - May 17, 2009 Session

IMPORTANT CLUB SCHEDULE CHANGE!!!!!

CLUB WILL NOT MEET ON SUNDAY, MAY 24TH DUE TO THE HANDI-DOG TOURNAMENT BEING PLAYED ACROSS TOWN.

CLUB WILL RESUME ITS NORMAL SCHEDULE ON SUNDAY, MAY 31ST AT THE USUAL TIME.

This session marked the fortieth week of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2008-2009 season!

The goodies table today featured the usual selection of chips, salsa, and newtons.

The tournament rules division was joined by 3 players who played 10 games in which we scored 3,821 points for a 382.1 point-per-game average. Of the 13 recorded bingos we played, none were phonies that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week.

The first was the Show Me The Money Contest awarded to the player who turned in the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of some some form of legal tender or currency. Ed Saunders put in three ones to cover his dues and took two ones and a quarter ($2.25) out for his winning 20 pt play of ONE.

The second was the Exercise Your Options Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of some sort of exercise or athletic endeavor. Carol Knouse cleaned up this contest with her heavy-duty 60 pt play of JERK, part of the weightlifting event of "clean and jerk". Carol picks up $2.25 for her efforts.

Ed's two ones - and the quarter - found their way back into the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. We have paid out $413.89 in prizes so far this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (May 31, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
• Pond Life Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of some form of life form normally associated with a pond or small lake (e.g. FROGLET, POLLYWOG, MOSQUITO, rEGRETS, CATFISH, FISHERS, REDEARS, BLUEGILL, WATERLILY, MINNOWS, CHUBbier, bREEDing, etc.)
• "SH" We're Having A Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter couplet "SH", in that order, somewhere within it (e.g. SHMALTZ, FETISHES, ASHLARS INSHEATH, FRESHETS, SHELDUCK, EYEWASH, MISHMOSH, RATFISH, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $29.51 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $1.31 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $0.56 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $4.85 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
