Session Notes - June 14, 2009 Session

This session marked the forty-third week of NASPA Club #800 (Northwest Scrabble Club)'s 2008-2009 season!

The goodies table today featured the usual selection of chips, a delicious peach punch brought in by Sarah Jacobson, and some of John Spence's famous chocolate chip cookies brought in by Richard.

The tournament rules division was joined by 6 players who played 38 games in which we scored 13,986 points for a 368.05 point-per-game average. Of the 44 recorded bingos we played, two were phonies that went unchallenged.

Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week.

The first was the Well, You Can Call Me JAY! Contest awarded to the player who turned in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "J" somewhere within it. Bob Knoused was juuiced when he laid down his 56 pt play of JUICED, but Ed Saunders was the jolliest rancher in the room when he scored 94 pts with JOLLIEST to take home the $4.50 prize.

The second was the The Fabrics Of Our Lives Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of some sort of fiber or fabric. Sarah Jacobson scored 32 for QUILTS but Ed Saunders got 65 for his play of reCLOTHe to snatch up another $4.50 prize.

Ed's $9.00 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $1.12 added to it. We have paid out $442.76 in prizes so far this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.
