Session Notes - July 12, 2009 Session
This session marked the forty-seventh week of NASPA Club #800 (Northwest Scrabble Club)'s 2008-2009 season!
The goodies table today featured the usual selection of chips, newtons,
cheese and crackers along with fresh cherries supplied by Bob and Carol
Knouse.
The tournament rules division was joined by 6 players who played 34 games
in which we scored 13,209 points for a 388.5 point-per-game average. Of
the 41 recorded bingos we played, one was a phony that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured two regular contests this week.
The first was the Bugs 'n Stuff Contest awarded to the player who turned in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of or pertains in some direct manner to an insect or bug of some sort. We were lenient with the "direct" this week. Bob Knouse came in on a WING and a prayer with 8 pts, Richard Spence came in on AWING for 16, but Carol Knouse was a busy little bee scoring 27 with her play of POLLEN to win the $4.50 prize.
The second was the "X" Marks The Pot Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "X" somewhere within it. Everybody got into the act for this one. Carol VOX, Ed AXE, Bob AXON, Richard LOX, Sarah EX, and Michael Rhodes wins the $4.50 prize with 55 pts for DEX
Ed Saunders fit COM- -TENT around an existing "PE" to pull the $11.76 out of the 9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot with a 67 pt play of COMPETENT.
Ed's $11.76 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.
Michael Rhodes used a $6.75 prize to pay for two club sessions and donated the remaining $0.75 to the club kitty. Thanks, Mike!
No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $1.12 added to it. We have paid out $488.25 in prizes so far this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.
