Session Notes - April 12, 2009 Session

This session marked the thirty-fifth week of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2008-2009 season!

We welcomed Loren Mitchel to our group this weekend and enjoyed his company and his strong play. We're looking forward to having him at future sessions.

We also welcomed Bob and Carol Knouse back to the fold. They've endured two months of captivity at the hands of marauding friends and relatives visiting from the North. Carol celebrated her freedom by playing her highest ever club game, a 496 pt effort against Janis Clem, and claiming this week's Bingo Queen title, topping all players with a 1.5 bingo per game performance. Congratulations and Welcome Back!

The goodies table today featured the usual selection of chips, newtons, Easter peeps, some chips and salsa from Loren Mitchel, and some wonderful blueberry muffins from Sarah Jacobson. Thanks to all who provided snacks for the group.

The tournament rules division was joined by 6 players who played 32 games in which we scored 11,425 points for a 357.0313 point-per-game average. Of the 31 recorded bingos we played, two were phonies that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week.

The first was the Gotta Dance! Contest awarded to the player who turned in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a dance. Janis Clem scored 73 pts with SLIDERS ( the Electric Slide being a line dance), but Loren Mitchel pulled out the word of the day, a Brazilian dance called the CAPOEIRA for 76 pts and the $4.50 prize.

The second was the High Loss Contest for the highest losing score turned in during this session. Ed Saunders picks up this $4.50 prize with a 399 -449 loss.

The 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot fell once again this week. Ed Saunders PADDERS (102 pts) earned Ed the $1.12 payoff.

Ed's $5.62 winnings were donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $1.12 added to it. We have paid out $366.25 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (April 19, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
• No BS! Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that does not include a blank (B) or an "S" tile (e.g. CAZIQUE, QUIXOTRY, JAROVIZE, WATERZOOI, ZECCHINO, KOLHOZY, etc.)
• Double Your Pleasure, Double Your Fun Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring Double-Double for this session.
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $25.78 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $12.05 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $1.12 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
