Session Notes - January 11, 2009 Session
This session marked the twenty-third week of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2008-2009 season!
We welcomed Bob and Carol Knouse back from their Pennsylvania hiatus. We're
glad they're back and they seem happy to be back in the Arizona weather.
The goodies table today featured the usual selection of chips, newtons,
and chocolate. Thanks to all who provided snacks for the group.

We featured two regular contests this week.
The first was the Wassamadda "U" Contest awarded to the player
who turned in the highest scoring play of a word that pertains in some direct
way to University life or schools in general. Karen Lundeen got 30 pts for
her purposeful TEACH, Sarah Jacobson took the
student's viewpoint with CRAM for 32, Bob Knouse
went to the Administration side with PREZ for
35 and Carol Knouse wins the $4.50 prize with her athletic play of TRAINER
for 63 pts.
The second was the What's "UP" With That? Contest for the highest
scoring play of a word that contains both of the letters "U" and
"P" somewhere within it. Carol Knouse played PUNIER
for 22, Sarah Jacobson came up with a 37 pt PUP,
but Bob Knouse scored 41 with EQUIPS to pull in
the $4.50 prize.
No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $1.12 added to it. We have paid out $269.20 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.
The next session (January 18, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
• MLK Jr. Contest - In honor of the Martin
Luther King Jr. holiday, a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to
the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that begins with
any of the letters "M", "L", "K", or "J"
(e.g. MOJARRA, LORGNON, KYANIZE, JICAMAS, MADRONO, LENTISK, JACOBUS, etc.)
• Dance, Film, And Theater Contest - A quarter
of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest
scoring play of a word that pertains in some direct way to dance, film ,
or theater (e.g. FADINGS, HALFTONE, TROUPING, ZYDECOS, WEEPIES, PLAYBILL,
MIXIXES, STRAWHAT, TELEFILM, etc.).
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $17.00
plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who
scores a Triple-Triple
play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $1.12 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores
100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $3.37 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores
565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $4.49 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays
a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
