Session Notes - November 2, 2008 Session
This session marked the thirteenth week of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s
2008-2009 season!
The goodies table today featured the usual selection of chips. Thanks to
all who provided snacks for the group.
We've added a new dimension to the club proceedings with the introduction of Quackle and Internet Scrabble Club play as our new alternative to the dreaded "sit-out". On those occasions when we have an odd number of actual humans to play, Quackle and ISC will be available to the odd man out as either a very worthy opponent or as a learning tool. Games against Quackle and ISC will not count in the regular club standings, but, if used wisely, may very well have an effect on those standings later in the year. More computer activities may be made available in the near future.
The tournament rules division was joined by 4 players who played 14 games in which we scoredSome numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured two regular contests this week.
The first was the C'mon And Do The Locomotion! Contest awarded to the player
who turned in the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates
within it, the name of some form of vehicle or mode of transportation. Ed
Saunders drove his FIAT (19 pts) into the fray,
but Carol Knouse scored 23 with her play of DORIES
(a flat-bottomed boat) and sailed away with the $3.00 prize.
The second was the "BOO" To You!!! Halloween Contest for the highest
scoring play of a word that contains the letters "BOO", in any
order, somewhere within it. We raise ours glasses to Monique Kornell, who
had the only entry in this contest with BOOZY for 38 points. Monique walks
unsteadily away with the $3.00 prize.
No one cashed in on any Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. We have paid out $145.78 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.
