Session Notes - February 1, 2009 Session
This session marked the twenty-sixth week of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s
2008-2009 season!
The goodies table today featured the usual selection of chips and nuts plus
wheat thins provided by Sarah Jacobson and more chips and some cheese dip
from Karen Lundeen. Thanks to all who provided snacks for the group.
The tournament rules division was joined by 4 players who played 28 games
in which we scored 10,263 points for a 366.54 point-per-game average. Of
the 32 recorded bingos we played, six were phoneys that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:
- High Game - 483 points by Ed Saunders
- Low Win - 336 points by Sarah Jacobson
- High Loss - 387 points by Ed Saunders (Opponent at 395)
- Bingo King - Ed Saunders for averaging 2.2500 bingos per game
- New Personal High Games of 2008-2009 Season - none
- New Personal High Plays of 2008-2009 Season - none

- Weekly Anagram Challenge Karen Lundeen provides our challenge this week. With a rack of AEGINRS, Karen played the bingo SEARING, which has SEVEN anagrams. Can you come up with them? (Answer in "Bingos" section below.)
We featured two regular contests this week.
The first was the New Beginning Contest awarded to the player who turned
in the highest scoring play of a word that pertains in some direct way to
beginnings. There were no entries last week, so the $2.25 prize rolled over
into this session. Ed Saunders tried BEGIN for
27 pts, Sarah Jacobson brought out her morning cup of JAVA
for 36, but Karen Lundeen made news with her HEADLINE
for 86 pts to start and document her claim on the $5.25 prize.
The second was the Call The "MP"s!!! Contest for the highest scoring
play of a word that contains both of the letters "M" and "P"
in any order somewhere within it. Sarah Jacobson's MOPER
only scored 24 pts, Ed Saunders scored 31 with IMP,
but Janis Clem took the $3.00 prize by hooking her bingo OUTSITS on the
end of DUMP to form DUMPS/OUTSITS for 86 pts.
No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. We have paid out $290.94 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.
The next session (February 8, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
• Take Me For A Ride In Your Car, Car Contest
- A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in
the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates
the name of somewhere within it, a car or automobile of some kind (e.g.
CHEVIES, VOYAGER, RAMBLER, JAGUARS, MERCURY, HORNETS, WOODIES, FLIVVER,
JALOPIES, BOXCARS, SIDECAR, IMPALAS, etc.).
• Body Parts Contest - A quarter of dues collected
shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of
a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within
it, a part of the human body (e.g. PALMyra, TAILBONE, ARMPITS, KNEEling,
dogFACE, TOENAIL, CLAVICLE, HUMERUS, etc.).
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $19.43
plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who
scores a Triple-Triple
play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $1.31 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores
100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $5.80 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores
565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $6.92 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays
a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
