This session marked the thirty-seventh of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2007-2008 season!
We, and the goodies table welcomed the return of Carol Knouse to the club,
as she and Bob contibuted a fruit plate and some chips and salsa to go along
with the nuts, raisins, and chips already on the table today. Thanks to
all who provided snacks for the group.
Recreational player Elinor Horner answered the call to even out the numbers
and logged games with all three of the tournament players today.
The tournament rules division was joined by 3 players who played 10 games in which we scored 3,641 points for a 364.1 point-per-game average. Of the 11 recorded bingos we played, none was a phoney that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured two regular contests this week.
The first was the War Of The Roses Contest for the highest scoring play
of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within
it, a flower or flowering plant. The third time was the charm for this contest
with Ed sucking the nectar from a CLOVER blossom for 9 points and the $5.25
prize.
The second was the And The Winner Takes A Bowwow Contest for the highest
scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of
within it, a breed or type of dog. Ed took his faithful PUG
for a short walk for 12 points and fetched the $3.75 treat to take home
to the club kitty.
Ed Saunders was looking at a rack of ELNSTV? and the two seven letter bingos available in that rack when Bob Knouse hung an "R" in the fifth spot between two Triple Word Scores. That was "fin" with Ed, who dropped VENTRALS around the "R" for a Triple-Triple worth 140 points and the $3.34 in the Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot.
The club kitty was the big winner this week as Ed's $12.34 winnings were donated back to the kitty.
No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $319.86 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.
The next session (June 1, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• "GO" For The Gold Contest - A quarter
of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest
scoring play of a word that contains the letter couplet "GO",
in that order, somewhere within it. (e.g. GODETIA, ONGOING, LENTIGO, GOMUTIS,
QUANGOS, CHIGOES, DONGOLAS, LANUGOS, DUGONGS, MONGOOSE, etc.).
• The Game Is The Name Contest - A quarter
of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest
scoring play of a valid word that is the name, either first or second name,
of a person. Unusual names must be justified by giving a full name of the
person involved. Really unusual names will need to be verified before being
considered for the prize. (e.g. SOJOURNER, BENEDICT, CELESTE, MAXWELL, JOHANNES,
ROSEMARY, SOMERSET, JACOBUS, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth
of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple
play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $0.56 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores
100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $4.46 plus
a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores
565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $1.30 plus
