Session Notes - February 24, 2008 Session

This session marked the twenty-eighth of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2007-2008 season!

The tournament rules division was joined by 4 players who played 12 games in which we scored 4,727 points for a 387.875 point-per-game average. Of the 17 recorded bingos we played, none were phoneys that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week.

The first contest was The Happy, Happy Birthday Contest #1 for the highest scoring play of a word that begins with either "E" or "S". Ed Saunders took a shot with ETERNITY for 72, but Janis Clem envisioned a big payday when she played ENVISION for a triple-triple and 149 pts. The $3.00 prize for this contest was just the tip of the iceberg for Janis today.

The second contest was The Happy, Happy Birthday Contest #2 for the highest scoring play of a word that begins with either "K" or "L". Janis scored 35 points with her play of KA, but Judy Carlock kneaded the dough and picks up the $3.00 prize with her 52 point play of KNEADED.

Two of the Progressive Jackpots fell this week. Janis Clem rode her 149 point triple-triple of ENVISION to the $7.48 Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot. After that, the snowball continued to roll and Janis ended up with a 588 point game and picked up the $18.69 in the Club #565 Progressive Jackpot as well. Janis totals $29.17 for the day.

No one cashed in on either of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $270.84 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (March 2, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• Mar. Madness Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "M", "A", and "R", in any order, somewhere within it (e.g. RHAMNOSE, SMARAGDS, FULMARS, EMERITAS, UMBRELLA, ALMONERS,, etc.).
• Let's U and I Have A Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "U" and "I" in any order somewhere within it. (e.g. UINTAITE, ANGUINE, UMBILICI, IMMUNIZE, SUZERAIN, UBIQUITY, UMANGITE, WICKIUPS, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $0.75 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $0.75 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
