May your Thanksgiving Day be filled with the meaning and the true essence of the day, with the warmth and love of family and friends, and may that linger on throughout the coming holiday season and long into the new year. . . . I'll see you at the club. . . .
This session marked the fifteenth of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2007-2008 season!
We'd like to thank Carol & Bob Knouse for providing the club with goodies this week. Carol came up with a light and fluffy peanut butter dip that was fabulous with sliced apples. A plate of fresh banana nut bread and some potato chips rounded out the table. More than enough for the small pre-Thanksgiving gathering we had this week.
The tournament rules division was joined by 4 players who played 22 games in which we scored 8,446 points for a 383.9 point-per-game average. Of the 29 recorded bingos we played, three were phonies that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured two regular contests this week.
The first regular contest was the Frogs And Such Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of within it, any animal or bird. Ed Saunders managed 53 points on his play of FOX to win the $3.00 prize. Other entries were KOALA, OX, GOAT, EMU, GOA, and OX again.
The second was the "OO" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the couplet "OO" somewhere within it. Staying in tandem with the Frogs And Such Contest, Ed Saunders provided the only entry with ZOO for 36 pts and another $3.00.
The 100+Point Play Progessive Jackpot got gang-tackled this week. Carol Knouse led the assault with a 116 point play of REJUDGED, Bob Knouse followed that with a 102 point play of SQUARED, and Ed Saunders closed out the attack with a 104 point play of SMAZE. Splitting the $4.87 jackpot three ways, Ed and Bob take home $1.62 each while Carol, by virtue of the fact that hers was the highest of the three 100+ plays, walks off with the extra penny and $1.63.
Ed's $7.62 winnings will be donated back to the club along with Bob Knouse's donation of his $4.50 prize from last week's Veteran's Day Contest. Thanks go out to both.
No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $141.83 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.
