Session Notes - May 18, 2008 Session

This session marked the thirty-sixth of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2007-2008 season!

The goodies table included Janis Clem's wonderful cupcakes, nuts, raisins, and chips today. Thanks to all who provided snacks for the group.

The tournament rules division was joined by 2 players who played 8 games in which we scored 3,428 points for a 428.5 point-per-game average. Of the 16 recorded bingos we played, one was a phoney that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week.

The first was the War Of The Roses Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a flower or flowering plant. No one came up with a winner again this week, so we'll add another $1.50 and plant that $3.00 seed again and see if anything blooms next time.

The second was the And The Winner Takes A Bowwow Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of within it, a breed or type of dog. Nobody could get a leash on this one this week and we'll toss that $1.50 bone back to the hounds next time around.

Ed Saunders tapped into the 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot again this week, playing HONKEYS for 105 and HURDLES for 103 points to scrape $0.37 out of the back corner of the pot.

Ed's $0.37 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.37 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $307.52 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (May 25, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• The War Of The Roses Contest - $3.00 plus a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a flower or flowering plant. (e.g. ABUTILON, ASTILBE, MAGNOLIA, ORCHIDS, VERBENA, SALVIAS, OPUNTIAS, CLEMATIS, DAHLIAS, ROSEwood, MAYBUSH, HAWKWEED, BLUEBELL, etc.)
• And The Winner Takes A Bowwow Contest - $1.50 plus a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of within it, a breed or type of dog. (e.g. LAPDOGS, BASENJI, SAMOYED, HYAENAS, AARDWOLF, JACKALS, BLUETICK, REDBONE, MONGREL, salCHOW, PUPation, SHEPHERD, TERRIER, etc.).
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $2.78 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $3.90 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $0.74 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
