Session Notes - June 15, 2008 Session

This session marked the fortieth of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2007-2008 season!

The goodies table was stocked with crackers, nuts, raisins, and chips today. Thanks to all who provided snacks for the group.

The tournament rules division was joined by 3 players who played 8 games in which we scored 3,123 points for a 390.375 point-per-game average. Of the 12 recorded bingos we played, two were phoneys that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week.

The first was the CAT! Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "C-A-T", in any order, somewhere within it. No CATs made their way onto the board this week, and we'll see if the $2.25 (+) prize can entice one into the room next time.

The second was the DOG! Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "D-O-G", in any order, somewhere within it. The DOGs were hangin' out with the CATs this week, so none of them showed up, either. The $2.25 bone will be tossed back into the ring next time around.

Bob Knouse liked the "I" that Ed Saunders hung in the sixth spot between two Triple Word Score squares. So, to make sure his joy was not escaping Ed's notice, he racked up 131 points with his Triple-Triple play of ESCAPING (from a rack of ACEGS??) and escaped with the $2.24 locked up in the Triple-Triple Progessive Jackpot.

No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $338.14 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (June 22, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• CAT! Contest - $2.25 plus a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains all three of the letters "C - A - T", in any order, somewhere within it. (e.g. LOCATION, CATAWBA, ABREACT, CABRESTO, ACROBATS, DIATONIC, CALAMITY, etc.).
• DOG! Contest - $2.25 plus a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains all three of the letters "D - O - G", in any order, somewhere within it. (e.g. GODETIA, WATCHDOG, LAPDOGS, GAROTED, GOATHERD, LOIDING, GEODESIC, DOTAGES, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $0.56 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $6.70 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $3.54 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
