Session Notes - March 9, 2008 Session

This session marked the thirtieth of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2007-2008 season!

The goodies table included Janis Clem's cookies, Monique Kornell's Apricot squares, nuts, and chips today. Thanks to all who provided snacks for the group.

The tournament rules division was joined by 4 players who played 14 games in which we scored 5,489 points for a 32.07 point-per-game average. Of the 21 recorded bingos we played, three were phoneys that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week.

The first contest was The Happy, Happy Birthday Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that either begins or ends with the letter "R". Richard Spence got 70 points for ROASTED, but Ed Saunders' play was PEATIER, scored 74 points and planted the $3.00 prize in Ed's pocket.

The second contest was "TH" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the couplet "TH", in that order, somewhere within it. Ed Saunders had the only entry, taking the $3.00 pot with THIRD for 30 points.

Ed Saunders also cashed in on the Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot, playing STRIATED through the first "T" for 131 points and the $1.12 that was in the pot this week.

Ed's $7.12 winnings for the week will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $280.96 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (March 16, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• Happy, Happy Birthday Contest - Joni Perry celebrates her mmmmmpppppphhhhhhth birthday on March 16th. In honor of this occasion, a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that begins with either of the letters "J" or "P". (e.g. JOLLILY, PAVLOVAS, JOCKETTE, PSALTERY, JACINTHE, PURFLING, JIPIJAPA, PIXIEISH, etc.).
• Oh, "K", Let's Have A Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "K" somewhere within it. (e.g. KYANIZE, EUROKIES, BACKFITS, KRUMKAKE, KIELBASA, OATLIKE, ZEBECKS, KINESICS, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $1.87 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $1.12 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $1.87 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
