Session Notes - March 2, 2008 Session

This session marked the twenty-ninth of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2007-2008 season!

Wil Eastland and Elinor Horner made up our recreational division this week, playing three leisurely games on a windy Sunday afternoon.

The goodies table included cookies, nuts, chips and dip, crackers and cheese today. Thanks to all who provided snacks for the group.

The tournament rules division was joined by 2 players who played 10 games in which we scored 3,736 points for a 373.6 point-per-game average. Of the 11 recorded bingos we played, one was a phoney that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week.

The first contest was The Mar. Madness Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "M", "A", and "R", in any order, somewhere within it. Getting right to the point, Ed plunked down MAR for 21 points. Later on, Janis came up with AMBER for 36 points and the $1.50 prize money.

The second contest was Let's U and I Have A Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "U" and "I" in any order somewhere within it. Looking for an out play, Ed managed to find TUI for 6 points. This being the only entry, Ed picks up the $1.50 prize for the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.37 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $273.84 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (March 9, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• Happy, Happy Birthday Contest - Robert Readle celebrates his mmmmmpppppphhhhhhth birthday on March 13th. In honor of this occasion, a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that either begins or ends with the letter "R". (e.g. RHAMNOSE, ANCESTOR, RENDZINA, ULTERIOR, REREMICE, INSOFAR, RAUCOUS, MASSETER, RACHILLA, QUINTAR, RUMAKIS, etc.).
• "TH" Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the couplet "TH", in that order somewhere within it. (e.g. THIAZINE, STHENIC, RHYTHMIC, MYTHICAL, ORNITHES, NEOLITH, ISTHMUS, WITHHOLD, NAETHING, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $0.37 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $1.12 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $0.37 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $1.12 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
