Session Notes - May 6, 2012 Session

This session marked the thirty-sixth week of NASPA Club #800 (Northwest Scrabble Club)'s 2011-2012 season!

The tournament rules divisions were joined by 3 players who played 22 games in which we scored 8,826 points for a 401.1818 point-per-game average. Of the 35 recorded bingos we played, three were phoneys that went unchallenged.

Ed Saunders eked out top honors this week with a 4-2 +137 record.

There were no players in Division B this week.

This week's regular contests were from the club archives.

There were 3 players in division A and no players in division B.

The first was the Starts Or Ends In "P" Contest for the highest scoring play of a main word that starts or ends with the letter "P". In Division A, Travis Carlson PICKETED for 69 pts but Ed Saunders PRAISED for 79 to win the $2.25 prize.

The second was The Furniture And Accessories Contest for the highest scoring play of a main word that is the name of some sort of furniture or home deco accessory. In Division A, Ed Saunders set out some decorative BASKETS of potpourri to score 72 pts and the $2.25 payoff.

Travis Carlson laid claim to the 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot with 110 pts for sneezily* and 106 pts for OVERSAW. Travis picks up $0.56 for his efforts.

The other Progressive Jackpots went unclaimed this week and $0.56 will be added to each next session. We have paid out $409.73 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2011-2012 season.

The next regular session (May 20, 2012) shall feature the following contests:
• "Q" Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a main word that contains the letter "Q" somewhere within it (e.g. QIVIUTS, MBAQANGA, CAZIQUE, REEQUIPS, QUERIDAS, USQUABAE, EQUISETA, QUOINED, ALIQUOTS, TURQUOIS, PULQUES, etc.)
• You Animal! Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a main word that is the name of an animal of some sort (e.g. KOUPREYS, ZEBRASS, AXOLOTL, TUATERA, COYDOGS, RINGTAIL, AI, BONOBOS, MACAQUES, MURINES, CHIPMUCK, URODELES, DASYURE, MUDPUPPY, OUISTITI, BOSHBOK, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $1.31 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Historic Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $6.08 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $0.56 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
