Session Notes - April 19, 2012 Session
This session marked the thirty-fifth week of NASPA Club #565 (Speedway Scrabble Club)'s 2011-2012 season!
The tournament rules divisions were joined by 6 players who played 52 games in which we scored 18,417 points for a 354.1731 point-per-game average. Of the 51 recorded bingos we played, three were phonies that went unchallenged.
Travis Carlson claimed division A with a 4-2, +378 pt performance and 14 bingos.
Sarah Jacobson took top honors in division B with a 6-8 +21pt showing.
Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured two regular contests this week.
If you have a contest idea or perhaps a favorite contest from the past, let me know, we'll try to work it into the mix. This week's contests were from the club archives.
Division "A" had 4 players this week. Division "B" had 2 players.
The first regular contest was the Starts Or Ends In "N" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that starts or ends with "N". In Division "A", Richard Spence stirred up a 69 pt fire with ANDIRON but Travis Carlson erased that threat with 71 pts for ERASION to grab the $3.00 prize. In Division "B", Phyllis Spence tried a little LOTION for 18 pts but Sarah Jacobson took the money ($1.50) with WEN for 35.
The second was the Colorful Contest for the highest scoring play of a main word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of a recognizable color, dye, or pigment. In Division "A", Richard Spence pulled 11 pts with iRED, Travis Carlson found a rose surrounded by keROSEne for 63 pts but Ed Saunders took home the green ($3.00) with 80 pts for GREENest. In Division "B", Phyllis Spence and Sarah Jacobson both painted their entries in shades of "GREY". Phyllis's GREY was worth 16 pts and Sarah's GREY won the $1.50 prize with 26 pts.
The Progressive Jackpots went unclaimed this week and $1.12 will be added
to each next session. We have paid out $651.10 in prizes this season. Click
