This session marked the tenth week of NASPA Club #565's 2009-2010 season!
Three players played in our Recreational Division this week. Alice Agaloff
and Becky Smith found their way into the club for the first time and squared
off against each other for the evening. Sometimes tournament division player
Ty Henry opted for the Recreational Division this week though he was paired
with Tournament Division players in all four of his games.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 6 tournament division players who played 26 games in which we scored 9,542 points for a 367.0000 points per game average. Of the 32 recorded bingos we played, two were phonies that went unchallenged.
Ed Saunders was the big winner again this week, going 4-0 with a positive 477 pt spread, 8 bingos, and a per game average of 435.50 pts per game.
Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured two regular contests this week
The first regular contest was the "Teeny Tiny" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains two or more "Ts" somewhere within it. Vernon Berry took a shot at winning the contest lotto with his play of LOTTO for an unknown number of points, Mary Lou Van Liere was very creative with her 64 pt submission of outties*, but Ed Saunders gritted his teeth and scored 87 pts with GRITTED for the $4.50 prize.
The second regular contest was the That's My Bud! Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or contains somewhere within it, a term which might be used to designate a friend, lover, or companion. Travis Carlson racked up 59 pts for RELATION but Mary Lou Van Liere had the inadvertant winner, scoring 70 pts for dALLIES to pocket the $4.50 reward. (Interesting sidenotes on this contest-Travis also submitted a variant of ALLY, with rALLIED for 68, but the judge ruled the variant to be a verb rather than a noun and disallowed the play. Travis also made, but did not submit, the play CRABBING for 71 pts. CRABBING contains the word RABBI, which the judge did not consider to necessarily be a friend or companion but would have allowed had Travis submitted it in that context - the lessons - 1. look at your words to see if there is something imbedded within them and 2. allow for the fickleness of the judge.)
Ed Saunders fired up a 101 pt play with TEQUILAS to grab the $4.11 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot
Ed's $8.61 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.
No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $1.12 added to it. We have paid out a total of $130.01 in prizes during the 2009-2010 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2009-2010 season.
The next session (October 22, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
