Session Notes - August 13, 2009 Session

This session marked the second week of NASPA Club #565's 2009-2010 season!

There were no games played in our Recreational Division this week.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 10 tournament division players who played 48 games in which we scored 16,631 points for a 346.4792 points per game average. Of the 45 recorded bingos we played, one was a phoney that went unchallenged.

Loren Mitchel was the big winner this week, going 5-0 with a positive 612 pt spread.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the "Q" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "Q" somewhere within it. Entries included QI, REQUITES, QUITE, QAID, and QUOTA but Richard Van Liere's 87 pt play of SQUIRTS wins the $7.50 prize.

The second regular contest was You Animal! Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of an animal of some sort. Monique Kornell came up with ARANEIDS for 62, Ed Saunders played EMUS/REPLIES for 74, Mary Lou Van Liere hooked ZEST onto BIOTA to score 77 pts, but Karen Lundeen's 80 pt play of KITTENS took the $7.50 prize.

Monique Kornell pulled the $1.87 out of the 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot with a 100 pt double-double of STORIED/PENITENTS.

Loren Mitchel emptied the 9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot with the aforementioned 9 letter bingo through SEPARATED tiles. Loren scores $4.30 for his 61 pt play.

Monique Kornell donated the loose change ($0.81) from a previous prize payoff. We 'preciate it! Thanks, Monique!

No one cashed in on either of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $1.87 added to it. We have paid out a total of $41.21 in prizes during the 2009-2010 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2009-2010 season.

The next session (August 20, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
• "MB" Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "B" and "M", in any order, somewhere within it (e.g. MBAQANGA, UMBILICI, BESMIRCH, MARBLING, GAMBADO, MORBIDLY, BOGEYMAN, etc.)
• Sump'n For The Tummy Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, something that is consumed as a food (e.g. KIELBASA, HUMMUSES, TAHINIS, SPAETZLE, YAKITORI, PABULUM, AMBROSIA, KRUMKAKE, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $5.05 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $1.87 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
