Session Notes - November 5, 2009 Session

This session marked the thirteenth week of NASPA Club #565's 2009-2010 season!

Alice Agaloff and Becky Smith comprised our recreational division this week.
Click here for a roster of Recreational Players

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 9 tournament division players who played 40 games in which we scored 15,247 points for a 381.1750 points per game average. Of the 57 recorded bingos we played, six were phonies that went unchallenged.

Richard Spence had a monster session to take top honors for the week, going 5-0 with a positive 811 pt spread, 15 bingos, and a per game average of 490.4 pts per game. He also recorded his personal high game of the season, 531 pts TWICE (in back-to-back games). Congrats to Richard (and all who survived the thrashings he dealt out. . . .)!

Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the Scary, Scary Night!! Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that pertains, or contains a word that pertains within it, to Halloween in some direct manner. Richard Spence tried to sneak "SYRINGE" past the judges, but was unable to impress them with his justification sentence. Ed Saunders scored 22 pts for GRAVEn, but Richard Van Liere went straight for the jugular (so to speak) with his opening play of the night HAUNTED for 80 pts and the $6.75 prize.

The second regular contest was the Electricity Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains either or both of the letter couplets "AC" and "DC", in any order, somewhere within it. Phyllis Spence bingoed out in one of her games with CURABLE for 66 pts, Monique Kornell's play was just a bit SAUCIER for 76 pts, Travis Carlson STOCKED up 78 pts with his play of STOCKED, but Ed Saunders showed off the VARICES on his tired old legs to score 93 pts and hobble off with the $6.75 prize.

Ed Saunders rode four bingos (RABBITS 84, CRATING 82, THINNED 86, and VARICES 93) to a strong 581 pt game to claim $15.87 from the Club 565 Progressive Jackpot.

Ed's $22.62 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $1.68 added to it. We have paid out a total of $207.11 in prizes during the 2009-2010 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2009-2010 season.

The next session (November 12, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
