Session Notes - October 1, 2009 Session

This session marked the eighth week of NASPA Club #565's 2009-2010 season!

There were no games played in our Recreational Division this week.
Click here for a roster of Recreational Players

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 7 tournament division players who played 24 games in which we scored 9,045 points for a 376.875 points per game average. Of the 36 recorded bingos we played, three were phonies that went unchallenged.

Ed Saunders was the big winner this week, going 4-0 with a positive 410 pt spread, 10 bingos, and a per game average of 443.75 pts per game.

Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the "Q" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "Q" somewhere within it. Travis Carlson got 13 pts for QI, Phyllis Spence added an "S" to score 34 pts with QIS, Ed Saunders' QAT racked up 41, Loren Mitchel upped that to 42 with QUOD, but Mary Lou Van Liere's QUILT covered up the competition with 46 pts and earned her the $5.75 prize.

The second regular contest was the Location, Location, Location Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of a location of some kind. Phyllis Spence took us out to a DUNE for 13 pts, Travis Carlson visited some ZOOS for 31 pts, one of Loren Mitchel's entries was rejected so he had to settle for 42 pts for QUOD ( a jail ), Ed Saunders hit the rails with TRAINed for 62, but Mary Lou Van Liere scored 79 pts and flew away with the $5.75 prize in her SEAPLANE.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $1.31 added to it. We have paid out a total of $96.31 in prizes during the 2009-2010 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2009-2010 season.
