Session Notes - January 29, 2009 Session

This session marked the twenty-second week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009 season!

Julianne Montaño and Martha (we'll find out her last name next time) comprised our Recreational Division this week, playing 3 games against tournament division players.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 4 tournament division players who played 12 games in which we scored 4,324 points for a 360.33 points per game average. Of the 13 recorded bingos we played, one was a phoney that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the A New Beginning Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that pertains in some direct way to beginnings. Ed Saunders used an "E" hook on his previous play of FIANCE to form FIANCEE/QUEEN for 60 points and the $3.00 prize.

The second regular contest was the Who's In Charge Here? Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a leader or governmental official of some kind. Ed Saunders' previously mentioned play of QUEEN/FIANCEE scored 60 points and wins this contest as well. $3.00 more to the Saunders coffers.

Ed's $6.00 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. We have paid out a total of $208.26 in prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (February 5, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
• Happy, Happy Birthday!! Contest - Mickey Matz celebrates his mmmmppppttthhh birthday on February ninth. In honor of this occasion, a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that begins or ends with the letter "M"(e.g. MAXIXES, ALUMINUM, MBAQANGA, MODICUM, TONEARM, MEALWORM, etc.)
• Take Me For A Ride In Your Car, Car Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a car or automobile of some kind (e.g. CHEVIES, VOYAGER, RAMBLER, JAGUARS, MERCURY, HORNETS, WOODIES, FLIVVER, JALOPIES, BOXCARS, SIDECAR, IMPALAS, etc.).
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $0.75 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $3.17 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $11.77 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $28.01 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
