Session Notes - May 28, 2009 Session

This session marked the thirty-ninth week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009 season!

No games were played in the Recreational Division this week.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 3 tournament division players who played 14 games in which we scored 5,269 points for a 376.3571 points per game average. Of the 21 recorded bingos we played, none were phonies that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the Show Me The Money Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of some form of legal tender or currency. Loren Mitchel tendered TENDERed for 18 pts, Ed Saunders flipped a COIN into the mix for 27 pts, but Sarah Jacobson wins the money with her 35 pt play of XU. A "XU", in this particular case, being worth $2.25.

The second regular contest was the Exercise Your Options Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of some sort of exercixe or athletic endeavor. Ed Saunders danced into this contest with a 12 pt PLIE, Loren Mitchel followed him to the barre with 18 pts for BARREn, but Sarah Jacobson showed she could carry her weight in this contest with a 54 point play of JERKy, carrying off the $2.25 prize.


No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. We have paid out a total of $373.42 in prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (June 4, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
• Gimme Candy Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of some form of candy (e.g. BONBONS, SNICKERS, fulMARS, KISSers, TOOTSIE, GUMBALL, JUJUBES, PRALINES, SKITTLES, periDOTS, etc.)
• The Bird Is The Word Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of some sort of bird (e.g. WHYDAHS, HOACTZIN, CARACARA, OILBIRD, WHIMBREL, DOTTEREL, DUNLINS, CURLEWS, APTERYX, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $14.76 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $5.23 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $25.78 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $1.31 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
