Session Notes - August 28, 2008 Session

This session marked the fourth week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009 season!

In our second full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division, there will continue to be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 4 tournament division players who played 16 games in which we scored 5,776 points for a 361.00 points per game average. Of the 18 recorded bingos we played, none were phonies that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the "PROS" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains one or more of the positive words "PRO", "FOR", "WITH", or "IN" somewhere within it. Phyllis Spence tried steering the prize into her pocket with her 66 pt play of STEERING, Pat Madea wasn't wasting any time as he played WASTING for 77 pts, but Richard Spence wasn't beating around the bush with his play of PROTEAS for 78 pts and the $2.25 prize.

The second regular contest was the "CONS" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains one or more of the negative words or prefixes "CON", "ANTI", "NON", or "OUT" somewhere within it. Richard Spence outvied everyone else in the club for this $2.25 prize with his 85 point play of OUTVIES.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. We have paid out a total of $34.86 in prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (September 4, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• Mind Your "Q"s Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "Q" somewhere within it. (e.g. MBAQANGA, QUINTAIN, PERIQUES, SQUILLA, QUINOAS, EQUISETA, OBLIQUE, QUOINED, USQUABAE, etc.)
• "I, I, I" What A Contest! - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains two or more "I"s somewhere within it. (e.g. INDICIA, BIELDING, IDIOCIES, KINETICS, IGNOMINY, HONGIING, GINGELLI, JIPIJAPA, TRAPEZII, QUINTIN, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $8.40 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $0.75 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $15.12 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $13.07 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
