Session Notes - September 25, 2008 Session

This session marked the eighth week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009 season!

In our second full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division, there will continue to be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 3 tournament division players who played 14 games in which we scored 5,027 points for a 359.07 points per game average. Of the 17 recorded bingos we played, two were phonies that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was The Colors Of Our Lives Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a color. No one played any colorful words again this week, so we'll carry the $5.25 prize forward until next time.

The second regular contest was the "V" Is For Vicugna Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that begins with the letter "V". Karen Lundeen watched a VID for 11, Mickey Matz vied for the win with his play of VIES for 22 pts, but Ed Saunders took home the $2.25 prize with VARLET (30 pts).

Ed Saunders rode three bingos en route to a massive 566 game and the $18.29 residing in the Club 565 Progressive Jackpot.

Ed's $20.54 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. We have paid out a total of $76.76 in prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (October 9, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• The Colors Of Our Lives Contest - $5.25 plus a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a color. (e.g. REDTAIL, BROWNIER, PINKEYE, CERULEAN, FUCHSIA, CELADON, BLUEGILL, ANTIRED, etc.)
• Show Me The Money! Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, some form of money. (e.g. QINTARS, PATACAS, DRACHMAS, TWOPENNY, OUGUIYA, TAMBALAS, SIMOLEON, WAMPUMS, QINDARKA, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $11.57 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $0.56 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $16.24 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
