Session Notes - January 22, 2009 Session

This session marked the twenty-first week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009 season!

No games were played in the recreational division this week.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 5 tournament division players who played 20 games in which we scored 7,097 points for a 354.85 points per game average. Of the 19 recorded bingos we played, three were phonies that went unchallenged.

Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the Wassamadda "U" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that pertains in some direct way to University life or schools in general. There were no entries last session so the $2.25 prize was carried forward and added to the $3.75 from this session. Pat Madea had the only entry this week with QUAD for 28 pts and his academic prowess earns him the six bucks.

The second regular contest was the Alternate "ING" Play Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains all of the letters "I", "N", and "G" in any order OTHER THAN "ING" somewhere within it. Pat Madea started it off with GENESIS for 72 pts, but Mickey Matz soured Pat's chances with his 86 pt play of VINEGARS to take home the $3.75 prize.

Ed Saunders cleaned out one of the bigger prizes this season with the club's first triple-triple play of the season, RELEGATE (played through the "L") for 131 pts and the $22.59 in the Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot.

Ed's $22.59 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.93 added to it. We have paid out a total of $202.26 in prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (January 29, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
A New Beginning Contest - In honor of the Inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States, a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that pertains in some direct way to beginnings (e.g. DAWNING, FRESHLY, ABORNING, KICKOFF, ARRIVAL, STARTUP, INITIAL, etc.)
Who's In Charge Here? Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a leader or governmental official of some kind (e.g. NIZAMATE, MAYORAL, EARLDOM, PASHALIK, GOVERNOR, AMEERATE, LORDOSIS, CALIPHS, PRINCELY, MONARCHY, etc.).
Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $2.42 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $11.02 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $27.26 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
