This session marked the thirty-eighth week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009 season!

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 4 tournament division players who played 20 games in which we scored 7,611 points for a 380.55 points per game average. Of the 26 recorded bingos we played, two were phonies that went unchallenged.

Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the Pond Life Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of some form of life form normally associated with a pond or small lake. Ed Saunders formed the word EFT (an amphibious newt) with his 19 pt play of MUTT, Loren Mitchel scored 21 with his play of HERN (a shortened form of HERON), but Monique Kornell used her vast knowledge of birds to win the $3.00 prize with a 48 pt play of KITES (a type of raptor, one species of which subsists entirely on a form of freshwater snail called the Apple Snail) to fly off with the $3.00 prize.

The second regular contest was the "SH" We're Having A Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter couplet "SH", in that order, somewhere within it. Ed Saunders went straight to the point, scoring 42 for his play of SH/HURT but Loren Mitchel took us down to the TEASHOP for 80 pts and a $3.00 cup of the winning brew.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. We have paid out a total of $368.92 in prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (May 28, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
Show Me The Money Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of some form of legal tender or currency (e.g. DRACHMS, PATACAS, DALASIS, reCENTly, SATANGS, PFENNIG, TAMBALA, FARTHING, TUPPENCE, etc.)
Exercise Your Options Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of some sort of exercise or athletic endeavor (e.g. DEADLIFT, SCULLING, BIATHLON, VAULTING, PUSHUPS, CLIMBING, PRESSES, etc.)
Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $14.20 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $4.67 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
