Session Notes - August 21, 2008 Session

This session marked the third week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009 season!

In our second full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division, there will continue to be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 5 tournament division players who played 22 games in which we scored 7,560 points for a 343.64 points per game average. Of the 15 recorded bingos we played, none were phonies that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the An "L" Of A Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that begins with the letter "L". The "L" Of A Contest turned out to be an "L" of a challenge. Pat Madea's LAID netted 6 pts, Sarah Jacobson's LI raised the bar to 7 pts, Mickey Matz' LURE pushed it all the way up to 10 pts, and Ed Saunders won the $3.75 prize with his 17 pt play of LINGER.

The second regular contest was the High Loss Contest for the highest losing score of a game during this session. Ed Saunders won with his 374 pt loss, picking up another $3.75 in the process.

Mickey Matz established a new personal (and Club, also) high play for the young season with his 105 point play of BROWSED. Mickey pulls $3.36 out of the 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot with the play.

No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.93 added to it. We have paid out a total of $30.36 in prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (August 28, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• "Pros" Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains one or more of the positive words "PRO", "FOR", "WITH", or "IN" somewhere within it (e.g. PROTONS, FORMULAR, WITHING, INCONNU, SEMIPRO, PIEFORT, HEREWITH, THEELINS, etc.)
• "Cons" Contest! - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains one or more of the negative words or prefixes "CON", "ANTI", "NON", or "OUT" somewhere within it. (e.g. CONATUS, ANTIRED, NONACID, OUTGOING, ALENCON, SCANTILY, IONONES, DIMOUTS, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $7.65 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $14.37 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $12.32 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
