Session Notes - November 20, 2008 Session

THERE WILL BE NO CLUB ON THANKSGIVING DAY, NOVEMBER 27TH. CLUB WILL RESUME PLAY AS USUAL ON DECEMBER 4TH

This session marked the fifteenth week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009 season!

No recreational division games were played this week. Click here for a roster of Recreational Players

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 3 tournament division players who played 12 games in which we scored 4,451 points for a 370.92 points per game average. Of the 14 recorded bingos we played, two were phonies that went unchallenged.

Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the "DG" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "D" and "G" somewhere within it. Sarah Jacobson had a gaudy 39 pt play of GAUDY, Mickey Matz graphed out a plan to win with his 84 pt play of GRAPHED, but Ed Saunders threw up a red light on that plan with his 92 pt phony redlight* and cruises away from the intersection with the $2.25 prize.

The second regular contest was the Calling All Foodies Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, some type or form of food. Mickey Matz tried a 27 pt slice of ZA, Sarah Jacobson showed she was game with her 28 pt HEN, but Ed Saunders took an extra slice of ZA to go along with a bit of FIZ to score 54 pts and the $2.25 prize.

Ed's $4.50 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. We have paid out a total of $131.12 in prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (December 4, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
"MB" Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains both of the letters "M" and "B" anywhere within it. (e.g. BOOJUMS, JAMBEAUX, MBAQANGA, ABOMASUM, MILLIBAR, BROMINE, MARBLING, MAMBOED, LABDANUM, etc.)
The Name Game Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is a proper name, or incorporates a proper name somewhere within it (e.g. PAHLAVI, VENTURI, BONNIEST, MULLIGAN, SEAROBIN, JOHNBOAT, GRAHAMS, PARTONS, ABIGAILS, BILLBUG, ROENTGEN, etc.)
Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $17.18 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $2.06 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $5.61 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
