Session Notes - March 19, 2009 Session

This session marked the twenty-ninth week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009 season!

Karen Lundeen and Ed Saunders played a few recreational games while waiting for more players to show up. This set of games yielded a 597 pt game by Ed and a few interesting bingos for the list below.
Click here for a roster of Recreational Players

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 3 tournament division players who played 6 games in which we scored 2,153 points for a 358.8333 points per game average. Of the 7 recorded bingos we played, one was a phony that went unchallenged.

Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the Practicing Prefixes Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that begins with one of the prefixes "IN", "OUT", "UN", or "OVER". Ed Saunders takes in the $2.25 prize with his 69 pt play of INTAKES.

The second regular contest was the Springy Kinda Stuff Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, something that pertains to Spring. Pat Madea went to the garden for 79 pts and the $2.25 prize with WEEDIER.

Ed's $2.25 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. We have paid out a total of $294.16 in prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (March 26, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
Sufferin' Suffixes Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that ends with one of the suffixes "ING", "ITE", "IC", or "AL". To qualify, the combination must actually be USED as a suffix, rather than just the last letters of the word. For example, the word "MEZQUITE" is the name of a spiny tree or shrub and the ending of "ITE" is not actually used as a suffix, it simply ends the word. (e.g. HONGIING, SMECTITE, HARMONIC, RETINAL, VITTLING, AMOSITE, ANAEMIC, EPISOMAL, etc.)
This Contest Is For The Birds Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a bird or type of bird. (e.g. OILBIRD, HOACTZIN, APTERYX, OSTRICH, FULMARS, CORVINE, DUNLINS, DOTTEREL, KILLDEE, etc.).
Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $6.54 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $0.56 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $17.56 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $2.80 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
