This session marked the twenty-fifth week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009
season!
We welcomed, and thoroughly enjoyed the company of, a bunch of people this
week. First of all, Don and Heather Drumm from
Clinton, New York were in town visiting relatives and made their first appearance
at Club # 565. Don is the director of Club # 324 in Rome, New York. Several
of our club members who have been somewhat less than regular in their attendance
lately made it in to welcome the Drumms. Nathan Benedict,
Monique Kornell, and Michael Rhodes made some time in their busy
schedules for the purpose. And last, but certainly not least, Linda
Linthicum made her first (of many, we hope) visit to the club and
anchored our Recreational Division this week.
6 games were played in the Recreational Division this week. New player
Linda Linthicum played three games against two of our tournament division
players and fit right in, winning a couple of them.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 8 tournament division players who played 42 games in which we scored 15,787 points for a 375.8810 points per game average. Of the 60 recorded bingos we played, three were phonies that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured two regular contests this week
The first regular contest was the Happy, Happy Birthday!! Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that begins with either of the letters "E" or "S" (In honor of Ed Saunders' birthday). Michael Rhodes had one of the top entries, scoring 77 for ETOILES, Don Drumm dusted off STOURIE for 82, but Heather Drumm squirted through with a 90 pt play of SQUIRTED to claim the $5.25 prize.
The second regular contest was the Body Parts Contest (run again this week 'cause the director forgot to make note of the new contest for this week) for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a part of the human body. Heather Drumm trotted out one of Ronald Reagan's favorite words, KEISTERS, for 63 pts but it wasn't enough. Michael Rhodes claims the $5.25 prize with a 67 pt play of RIBands.
Loren Mitchel noticed that the 9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot was up to $31.00
this week and, playing with the unlikely rack of ADLNORW,
managed somehow to spot a 9 letter bingo through an existing "NE"
on the board to win the money. See if you can figure it out. Answer in bright
blue in the "Bingos" section below. Nice find, Loren!
No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and
each shall have $1.31 added to it. We have paid out a total of $263.26 in
prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click
here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.
The next session (February 26, 2009) shall feature the following contests:

• A Colorful Contest - A quarter of dues collected
