Session Notes - April 16, 2009 Session

This session marked the thirty-third week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009 season!

No games were played in the Recreational Division this week.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 4 tournament division players who played 16 games in which we scored 6,062 points for a 378.8750 points per game average. Of the 20 recorded bingos we played, one was a phony that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the Gotta Dance! Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a dance. Once again, no one was able to come up with a dance. This contest and the $7.50 prize will roll over to the next session.

The second regular contest was the No BS! Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that does not include a blank (B) or an "S" tile. Sarah Jacobson scored 57 pts with ZAX, Ed Saunders grabbed 74 pts with PHONIER, Richard Spence made 76 pts with his play of EARTHEN, and Phyllis Spence wins the contest with a unique play. Phyllis started by playing quine*, which Ed Saunders challenged off the board. Given the second chance, Phyllis found UNIQUE, which fit into the left side for a TWS with the "Q" on a DLS for 80 pts and the $3.00 prize.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. We have paid out a total of $320.21 in prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (April 23, 2009) shall feature the following contests:
• Gotta Dance! Contest - $7.50 plus a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incoporates the name of somewhere within it, a dance. (e.g. SARABAND, MAXIXES, TANGOed, JIGsawn, FOXTROTS, GAVOTte, LINDIES, cREELed, unTWIST, RHUMBAS, etc.)
• Double Your Pleasure, Double Your Fun Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring Double-Double for this session.
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $10.28 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $0.75 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $21.30 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $6.54 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
