Session Notes - May 14, 2009 Session

This session marked the thirty-seventh week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009 season!

Phyllis Spence set the standard for this session, winning 2 of her 3 games against much higher rated opponents, averaging over 410 pts per game and claiming the crown of "Bingo Queen" with 7 bingos in her 3 games to finish with a session high 2.3333 bingos per game average. Way to go, Phyllis!!!

No games were played in the Recreational Division this week.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 4 tournament division players who played 20 games in which we scored 8,066 points for a 403.3000 points per game average. Of the 38 recorded bingos we played, two were phonies that went unchallenged.

Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the A Tribute To Youth Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of some form of immature life form. Loren Mitchel played TYNE/TOT for 31 pts, but Ed Saunders scored 80 with his play of uNITies to score the $3.00 prize.

The second regular contest was the "IC" A Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter couplet "IC", in that order, somewhere within it. Phyllis Spence showed us her TUNIC for 9 pts, Ed Saunders tried RICE for 15, but Loren Mitchel weathered the changing environment in this contest and won it with an 84 point play of RELICTS to scarf up the $3.00 prize.

Ed Saunders cracked the suddenly vulnerable 9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot for $0.75 tonight, playing OVERMINED to the "ED" for 86 pts.

Ed's $3.75 winnings are donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. We have paid out a total of $362.92 in prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (May 21, 2009) shall feature the following contests:

"SH" We're Having A Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter couplet "SH", in that order, somewhere within it (e.g. SHMALTZ, FETISHES, ASHLARS INSHEATH, FRESHETS, SHELDUCK, EYEWASH, MISHMOSH, RATFISH, etc.)
