Session Notes - August 14, 2008 Session

This session marked the second week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009 season!

In our second full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division, there will continue to be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

No recreational division games were played this week. Click here for a roster of Recreational Players

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 5 tournament division players who played 24 games in which we scored 8,426 points for a 351.08 points per game average. Of the 20 recorded bingos we played, two were phonies that went unchallenged.

Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the Low Powered Contest for the highest scoring play of a word which has no letters with a face value higher than one point. Mickey Matz tried to REROUTE (61) this prize into his pocket, Karen Lundeen tried to ENTREAT (65) the director to give her the prize, Pat Madea tried SALTIER for 69 pts, but Ed Saunders plowed through the competition with LISTERS (78) to plant the $3.75 prize firmly in his field.

The second regular contest was the High Powered Contest for the highest scoring play of a word containing one or more of the letters "K", "J", "Q", "X", and "Z". Californian Sarah Jacobson felt a QUAKE coming on for 56 points, Mickey Matz scored 77 for RESOAKED, but Ed Saunders shuffled his papers around and came up with QUIRE for 99 points and the win.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.93 added to it. We have paid out a total of $19.50 in prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (August 21, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
An "L" Of A Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that begins with the letter "L" (e.g. LORGNON, LUMBAGO, LOBOTOMY, LEVANTER, LADANUM, LANGSHAN, LIPPENS, LYCHNIS, etc.)
High Loss Contest! - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who records the highest losing score of a game during this session.
Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $6.72 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $2.43 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $13.44 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $11.39 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
