Session Notes - September 11, 2008 Session

The September 11th Session Was The Final Session At The Airport Location.

The September 18th Session Will Be Played At The New Location At The Denny's Restaurant Located At 3655 E. Speedway Blvd In Central Tucson.

This session marked the sixth week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009 season!

In our second full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division, there will continue to be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 5 tournament division players who played 22 games in which we scored 7,859 points for a 357.2273 points per game average. Of the 20 recorded bingos we played, none were phonies that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the Weatherman Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that pertains to weather in some manner. Karen Lundeen took a DRY (25 pts) run at the $3.75 prize but Pat Madea threw some water on that with his 27 pt play of WET to collect the money.

The second regular contest was the "N"ything Goes Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that begins with the letter "N". Mickey Matz played NUKE for 16 pts, but Ed Saunders' 28 point play of NEAR took the $3.75 prize.

Ed's $3.75 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.93 added to it. We have paid out a total of $49.86 in prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.

The next session (September 18, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• The Colors Of Our Lives Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a color. (e.g. REDTAIL, BROWNIER, PINKEYE, CERULEAN, FUCHSIA, CELADON, BLUEGILL, ANTIRED, etc.)
• "G" What A Contest! - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that begins with the letter "G". (e.g. GREENIER, GOMUTIS, GYNECIC, GANYMEDE, GISARME, GALABIEH, GREMIAL, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $10.26 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $2.61 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $16.98 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $14.93 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
