Session Notes - January 8, 2009 Session

This session marked the nineteenth week of NSA Club #565's 2008-2009 season!

We welcomed, and enjoyed the company of, Julianne Montaño to the club this week. Julianne got her feet wet with games against Roger Wiens and Sarah Jacobson. We look forward to seeing her again at future sessions.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 5 tournament division players who played 20 games in which we scored 6,953 points for a 347.65 points per game average. Of the 21 recorded bingos we played, three were phonies that went unchallenged.

Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the "OU" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains both of the letters "O" and "U". Sarah Jacobson played MOULT for 41 pts, but Ed Saunders made the unsightly play of HIDEOUS for 74 pts and possession of the $3.75 prize.

The second regular contest was the Flower Power Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of a flower or flowering plant of some kind. No roses or violets for our crew, Sarah Jacobson played AALII for 21 pts and Mickey Matz won the contest with his 33 pt play of IXIA. Between the two words, 9 letters, 4 "I"s, 3 "A"s, an "L" and an "X". Mickey picks up $3.75 for his horticultural knowledge.

Ed's $3.75 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.93 added to it. We have paid out a total of $167.67 in prizes during the 2008-2009 season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2008-2009 season.
